Your skin continues to produce oils. And that includes your scalp that produces sebum. Let’s start by understanding what and how really you get dandruff.

Now, Malessezia is a naturally occurring organism (fungi) that is found on everyone’s scalp. This organism breaks down the sebum to create a skin irritant called Oleic Acid.

Oleic Acid is also found on everyone’s scalp. But unfortunately, some people of sensitive to it, setting off Dandruff.

So, you could say that it is really the Oily Scalp that causes Dandruff. Flakes caused by Dryness are far less uncommon. In fact one of the approaches that the scientific community has been trying to do is to suppress sebum secretion to fight dandruff, through they have not been successful.
